VOTING RIGHTS AND SECURE ELECTIONS

Elizabeth Brown’s Policy Positions on Voting Rights And Secure Elections

Every citizen deserves the right to vote without undue burden.  Republican legislators like Warren Petersen are intent on chipping away at voting rights and making it more difficult to vote.  I will:

  • Protect the current system of vote by mail, used by 89% of Arizona voters use
  • Protect the use of convenient voting centers
  • Keep voting equipment and voter rolls safe and secure from handling by partisan players
  • Protect the rights of a diverse population

Warren Petersen’s Policy Positions on Voting Rights And Secure Elections

Warren Petersen and Karen Fann authorized an election “audit”, after several official recounts and state audit.  They hired a group called the Cyber Ninjas to conduct what became known as a “fraudit.”

  • The Cyber Ninjas removed 2.1 million ballots from the safety and security of the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office to a dank, unsecured warehouse in Phoenix for “inspection” by untrained, partisan players.
  • Petersen allowed untrained partisan players to handle Maricopa County’s brand new, fully tested voting machines, costing taxpayers $2.8 million to replace the compromised voting equipment.

ARIZONA CAN’T AFFORD WARREN PETERSEN’S EXTREME AGENDA!!

Senate President Warren Petersen and Republicans legislators have cost Arizona taxpayers millions!

$1.8 billion to dismantle public education by expanding ESA vouchers ($900M for 2023-24). Petersen’s extreme agenda has decimated the state budget, now facing a $1.3M shortfall, and has crippled public schools.  In doing so, he thumbed his nose at Arizona voters, who voted down ESA expansion in 2018.

$2.8 million to replace voting equipment compromised by the Cyber Ninja “fraudit” of the 2020 election, authorized by Warren Petersen.

  • Arizona became the laughingstock of the nation.
  • The review itself cost taxpayers $150,000, supplemented by millions in private donations by dark money conspiracy theorists.

UNTOLD Millions for Petersen’s unfunded, unconstitutional ballot referral.

  • If approved by voters, the Secure the Border Act (HCR2060) would make it a state crime to cross the border and would allow state and local officials to enforce the law, contrary to federal law.
  • It will be tied up in court, at taxpayer expense.  ACLU calls it an “extreme and unconstitutional” measure that “invites racial profiling and unlawful policing.”
  • It will potentially cost taxpayers hundreds of millions per year in court and incarceration costs, as well as boycotts.  A legislative analysis estimates the Department of Public Safety will be forced to set aside $3.8 million every year to comply with the proposed law and projects the total cost statewide could be $41 million.
  • Governor Katie Hobbs calls it a “job killer” that will “bust the state budget.”
